Rudy and his son John Forster purchased Ugalde Propane of Gerlach, Nevada in August of 1993. They changed the name to Granite Propane, Inc. in 1996, naming it after the mountain range just northwest of the town of Gerlach. The first expansion was to purchase property in Silver Springs, Nevada which they did in 2000. In the beginning, they operated the business from a telephone nailed to a pole until they decided to relocate the main office of Granite Propane, Inc. to Silver Springs, which they did in 2001.
In June of 2012, Granite Propane, Inc. again expanded their growing service area to include Lovelock, Nevada and its surrounding areas. As the company and service areas grow, the current plan in motion is to purchase property in Fallon, Nevada for yet another storage facility, to better serve that area and its surrounding areas.
Granite Propane, Inc. is very proactive in the safety associated with propane. All of our employees are continually educated by attending classes offered through the Liquid Propane Gas Association. They are trained in all areas of delivery, service and most importantly safety. Our people are committed to the safety of our customers first.
