A celebration put on with the combined efforts of the Fallon Chamber of Commerce, the City of Fallon, and Churchill County Parks and Recreation.

Events include an annual all American Parade. With family events continuing after the parade with a Party in the Park. Held at Oats Park, 199 -101 W. Park St. Fallon, NV. This event includes food trucks, carnival games, and FREE entertainment throughout the day. End the evening off with fireworks put on by the LARA at Rattlesnake Raceway 2000 Airport Rd. Fallon, NV.

Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park preserves many undisturbed ichthyosaur fossils of the species Shonisaurus Popularis and also the early 20th century ghost town of Berlin.  

The park is 1,540 acres and located about 23 miles east of the town, Gabbs in northwest Nye County. The ichthyosaur fossils became a National Natural Landmark in 1973.

The Oats Park Art Center is an Official Project of Save America’s Treasures, a public-private partnership of the White House Millennium Council and the National Trust for Historic Preservation dedicated to the preservation of our nation’s irreplaceable historic and cultural treasures for future generations.

The Churchill Arts Council is a private, non-profit arts organization bringing high quality arts events to Fallon, Churchill County and Northern Nevada. They present an annual season of performing arts events, literary readings and visual arts exhibitions. The Churchill County Museum and Archives opened its doors on July 4, 1968.

Since that time, visitors have marveled at the generous contributions from area residents that comprise the displays, filling almost 10,000 square feet of exhibit space.

The Museum’s Annex building, opened in 1989, adds another 4,000 square feet. This museum has exhibits on local Native American tribes, the Emigrant Trail, the Pony Express, and early Churchill County.

Located 15 miles east of Fallon, this is an interpretive trail that wanders through rocks covered with petroglyphs (ancient Indian carvings).

Located 15 miles east of Fallon, archaeologists have uncovered artifacts in this site, including nets, that help us understand the region’s earliest residents.

Lahontan State Recreation Area is a state park and includes the surrounding areas of Lake Lahontan on the Carson River.

Lahontan was designated a Nevada State Recreation Area on July 1, 1971.  The Area is open all year and includes the 162 foot tall, 1,700 foot long dam that became operational in 1915.

Naval Air Station Fallon serves as the Navy’s premier tactical air warfare training center. The premise behind NAS Fallon’s mission is to “Train the way you fight; fight the way you train.”

Home to the Naval Strike Air Warfare Center, the Fighting Saints of VFC-13 and the Desert Outlaws of Strike Fighter Weapons Det., these units make up the Navy’s elite advanced aviation tactics programs known as TOPGUN, TOPDOME, HAVOC and SWTI.

Known throughout the Navy as the only facility in existence where an entire carrier air wing can conduct comprehensive training while integrating every element of the wing into realistic battle scenarios. Every carrier air wing makes its final stop at Fallon for four weeks of combat training prior to deploying on the aircraft carrier, ready to meet the Nation’s tasking. NAS Fallon takes pride in its vital contribution to the nation in training the best aviators in the world.

From its beginnings as a WWII Army Air Corps airstrip in the early 1940’s, Fallon has served many different missions throughout the years. Originally designed as a primary base to launch missions against a Japanese strike against the West coast, the air station has evolved into a versatile, comprehensive training facility known to aviators around the world as the pinnacle of air warfare training.

Over 3,000 active duty personnel, civilian employees and DoD contractors enjoy life that is enhanced by the numerous facilities on base and by those within the surrounding areas. The natural beauty of the Northern Nevada high desert as well as the exhilarating attractions of nearby Reno present a wide variety of recreational and sight-seeing options for residents of NAS Fallon.

Rattlesnake Raceway is the oldest continuously operated oval track racing facility in the state of Nevada. The track is administered by Lahontan Auto Racing Association(LARA), a non-profit organization made up of racers and race enthusiasts, like you!

Churchill County, just north of U.S. Highway 50, “The Loneliest Road in America,” Sand Mountain is 25 miles east of Fallon, Nevada.

Managed by the U. S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the sand dunes of the 4,795 acre recreation fee area provide challenge and excitement for off-highway vehicle riders, hikers & sandboarders.

Many people visiting the area also take time to explore the historic 1860 Pony Express station and learn about the plants and animals of the Great Basin at the Sand Springs Desert Study Area.

The wetlands provide a temporary home to hundreds of species of migratory birds.
