A Taste Of Fallon In a couple of weeks, June 2nd to be exact, A Taste of Fallon will happen at Oats Park. We will have vendors selling food, beer and water/sodas. SilverWing Band will be playing live so come out and hear them play, have some good food and mingle with friends at this community event.

Gov. Gibbons Announces Min, Wage Increase At the end of March, Governor Jim Gibbons announced the increase to Nevada’s minimum wages that will take effect this summer. As of July 1st, 2007, the minimum wage for employees who receive qualified health benefits from their employers will increase from $5.15 per hour to $5.30 per hour and the minimum wage for employees who do not receive health benefits will increase from $6.15 per hour to $6.33 per hour. These increases are a result of a recent amendment to the Nevada Constitution by the approval of Question 6 in the 2006 election. Question 6 was overwhelmingly approved by voters in both 2004 and 2006. There are some exceptions to the increases, including exceptions for workers younger than 18 years old, after-school and summer employees of nonprofit organizations, and trainees during their first 90 days of employment. Future increases in the minimum wage will depend upon possible increases to the federal minimum wage and upon possible increases in future cumulative changes to the consumer price index. The governor has designated the office of the Nevada Labor Commissioner as the state agency tasked with the distribution of a bulletin to be made available to all Nevada employers announcing the current increases and any future increases.
